The Publication Division of the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT), has published a notification for NCERT Recruitment 2024 through F. No. 6-2/2024-Pub. (EW) on 11th July 2024. Through this notification, NCERT has announced to conduct of a walk-in registration and screening of documents along with Skill tests for engagement in the positions of Assistant Editor, Proof Reader and DTP operator on a contractual basis.
The NCERT aims to fill 90 vacancies across various positions. The tenure of the contract is initially up to 31st March 2025 with the possibility for further extension. In this article, we provided details regarding the vacancy, eligibility, selection process etc.

Salary
- Assistant Editor → Rs. 80,000/- per month (consolidated)
- Proof Reader → Rs. 37,000/- per month (consolidated)

Tenure
The tenure of Assistant Editor, Proof Reader, and DTP Operator in NCERT Recruitment 2024 will be up to 31st March 2025. As per the official notification, the tenure of the positions is likely to be extended by one year.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- Assistant Editor → 50 Years
- Proof Reader → 42 Years
- DTP Operator → 45 Years
The age relaxation for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC etc.) will be applicable as per the Government of India instructions.
Education Qualification
Assistant Editor:
- Graduation from a recognised University.
- PG Diploma in Book Publication/Mass Communication/Journalism with Editing as a subject.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Editing, Producing, and Supervising publications especially school textbooks, monographs and reports.
- Must be proficient in English/Hindi/Urdu
- Desirable: Word Processing and Techniques of Online Editing
Proof Reader:
- Graduation degree either in English/Hindi/Urdu.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in ProofReading textbooks in a Printing or Publishing Organisation as a Copy Holder/ProofReader.
- Knowledge of working with computers.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Typography.
DTP Operator:
- Graduation in any subject.
- One-year diploma/Certificate course in Desktop publishing from a recognised Institution.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Publishing house, preferably in textbook making.
- Proficiency in In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Equation Editor, MS Word, Excel and Page-maker.
- Typing proficiency in both English and Hindi.
- Desirable:
- Knowledge in Quark Express and Corel Draw.
- Knowledge in prepress preparation.

Selection Process
The selection process for the NCERT Recruitment 2024 involves two main stages:
- Walk-in Registration and Screening of Document: The candidate is required to reach the venue on time with a copy of their application form (attached with the notification) along with all the original certificates and self-attested photocopies of the same.
- Skill Test.

First, download the official notification take the printout of Annexure-A or the candidate can directly download it from the link given below and fill in all the required details. During the walk-in registration take all the documents like Education Certificates, Experience Certificates, and Caste Certificates (if applicable) in original and self-attested photocopies along with the properly filled-in Annexure-A form.
