WB SET 2024 Notification for Assistant Professor Posts is Out Check Eligibility, Selection, Application Process

The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) has published the Notification for the 26th West Bengal State Eligibility Test 2024 (WB SET 2024) for the post of Assistant Professor. The online application is open from August 1st, 2024 and the closing of the online application is August 31st, 2024. 26th WB SET Notification 2024

The 26th West Bengal State Eligibility Test 2024 (WB SET) will be held on 15th December 2024 (Sunday). WBCSC will conduct the examination of WB SET 2024 for the post of Assistant Professor in Two Papers on 33 subjects and in different districts of West Bengal. Eligible candidates having 55% of marks in Masters Degree can apply online from 1st August 2024 to 31st August 2024.

WB SET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Interested candidates applying for the West Bengal State Eligibility Test 2024 must meet the following criteria before applying:

• Master’s Degree or Equivalent:
  • General/EWS candidates: At least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s or equivalent degree from a UGC recognised University/Institute.
  • OBC (NCL)/ SC/ ST/ PWD/ Transgender: At least 50% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s or equivalent degree from a UGC recognised University/Institute.
• Persuing Master’s Degree or Equivalent: Candidates who are pursuing a Master’s Degree or have appeared in the qualifying Final Year examination or are waiting for the result or the qualifying examination is delayed can also apply for WB SET 2024.
• Ph.D. Degree holders: The PhD holders who completed their Master’s level Examination by 19th September 1991 shall be eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks for appearing in SET.
• Subject Eligibility: Candidates are required to appear for WB SET 2024 in the subject of their Post Graduation only. In case the subject is not available in the WB SET subject list, then the candidate may have to appear for the UGC NET/ Joint CSIR-UGC test.

Age Limit:

There is no age Upper Age Limit for applying for WB SET.

Exemptions:

• Candidates who passed the UGC/CSIR JRF Examination before 1989 are exempted from appearing in NET/SET.
• Candidates who already cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for the post of Assistant Professor conducted before 1st June 2002.

Application Fees:

The application fees for the WB SET 2024 examination will be paid through online mode only using either Credit card/ Debit card/ Internet Banking before 31st August 2024 (Midnight). The community-wise application fee details are given below:

West Bengal SET 2024 Selection Process

The examination for WB SET 2024 will be conducted in two papers (Paper I & Paper II) in two separate sessions. The papers will consist of objective-type questions and the examinations will be conducted on an OMR sheet. The details are given below:

Paper I shall consist of 50 Objective Type Questions carrying 2 Marks each. The questions will be general and intended to assess the teaching, and research aptitude of the candidate. The prime motive for this exam is to test the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.

Paper II shall consist of 100 Objective Type Questions carrying 2 Marks each. The questions will be from the subjects selected by the candidates. Paper II will cover the entire syllabi of earlier papers (Paper II & Paper III).

WB SET 2024 Exam Schedule

The WB SET 2024 examination shall be held on 15th December 2024. The examination for both papers (Paper I & II) will be held on the same day in separate sessions as follows:

• Paper I: 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
• Paper II: 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM.

How to Apply for WB SET 2024?

1. Go to the official WBCSC website (www.wbcsconline.in) and click on “Apply Now” beside the Advertisement Title “APPLY FOR 26th State Eligibility Test (SET)“.
2. Now fill in the Exam Details like Subject and Test Center Preference 1 & 2 and click on “Next“
3. Now fill in the Personal Details, Qualifying Details and upload the photo & signature as per instructions and click on “Submit”.
4. After successfully applying proceed for completing the online Application Fees.
5. Once Payment is done take the Print of the Application Fee and Payment Receipt for record purposes.
